James wins gold in 400m, Caribbean sweep
KINGSTON, Jamaica- NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD Kirani James from Grenada won gold in the 400m final in 43.94 seconds.
James achieved a national record and won the first Olympic medal for his country.
Luguelin Santos from the Dominican Republic was second in 44.46 and Lalonde Gordon from Trinidad and Tobago finished third in 44.52 seconds.
There were five Caribbean men in this event.
