J’can athletes start track and field campaign tomorrow
KINGSTON, Jamaica — FIFTEEN Jamaican athletes are scheduled to perform tomorrow, the first day of the track and feild competition, at the Olympics in London.Full Olympic Schedule
At 4:00am Alia Atkinson will participate in the women’s 50metre freestyle heats, she will swim out of lane 8.
Also at 4:00am Dorian Scott will participate as a part of Group A in the Men’s shot-put qualification. He will wear bib number 2187.
The women’s triple jump qualification rounds begin at 4:25am. Kimberley Williams and Trecia Smith will both vie for spots in the semi-finals.
Roxroy Cato, Heat 1, Leford Green, Heat 2 and Josef Robertson in Heat 6 will participate in the Men’s 400m hurdles at 5:15am.
The women’s 400m heats are scheduled to start at 6:00am with Christine Day in Heat 2, Rosemarie Whyte in Heat 3 and Novlene Williams-Mills in Heat 6.
While in the afternoon; the Women’s discus throw will take place at 1:10pm with Allison Randall performing as a part of group A.
The men’s Long Jump qualification rounds will begin at 1:50pm with Damar Forbes in Group A.
Veronica Campbell-Brown, Kerron Stewart and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce are to participate in round one of the women’s 100m event.
