Bolt turns heads
Bolt turned heads and stole the show literally, yesterday in the United Kingdom. The elder Bolt that is, and in the Adidas VIP Lounge to boot.
The father of the world’s fastest man, Wellesley Bolt, turned heads and obliged staff, international press, agents and athletes like Maurice Greene and yes we did see Tyson Gay steal a sneak peek with photographs, as the elder Bolt, along with his son’s business manager Norman Peart and communications specialist Carole Beckford were ushered inside the plush hospitality area located on the penthouse level of Westfield Shopping Centre, Europe’s largest shopping mall by Adidas manager track and field, running, Olympic Sports Marketing Daniel Lopez.
Make sure you win
“I arrived here in the UK yesterday (Tuesday) and although I’ve not yet seen my son Usain, my message to him will be a simple one: ‘Make sure you win the 100 metres and the 200’.”
This shared the ever so affable Wellesley Bolt as the Jamaica Observer team caught up with him at Westfield Shopping Mall, Stratford City, yesterday afternoon.
When asked about the immense pressure his son was under, the senior Bolt shrugged it off with a smile and added: “He’s used to it. I mean there was pressure in Bejing, China, but I have to be honest… if there was 100 per cent there; there’s 1,000 per cent here. I am confident, however, that my son can and will do Jamaica proud.”
