Black market tickets operation stopped
LONDON, England (AP) — A British government agency says it stopped a black market operation in London Olympics tickets, and buyers of 20,000 seats will be denied entry to venues.
The Office of Fair Trading says Oslo, Norway-based Euroteam was unauthorised to sell any Olympics tickets — and had sourced only 5,000.
The consumer protection agency says it got police help to shut down Euroteam’s trading websites.
The agency says Euroteam assured a court in London it would give customers “a full refund”.
Euroteam wrote to buyers this week saying “a lot” of their tickets had been confiscated.
It added that “other tickets have not yet reached our offices, others have not yet been sourced”.
Olympics tickets are valid only for the original buyer or recipient.
