The 23-year-old tweeted today “1:06:79 ranks me sixth overall in the world this year. Not too shabby considering I was 27th two days ago. Never give up, anything can happen.”
Earlier she tweeted that her Twitter followers should stay tuned for more “great things” from Jamaica’s “quiet heroes and heroines”, referring to a picture of herself, equestrian Samantha Albert and Taekwondo competitor, Kenneth Edwards.
Atkinson also has the women’s 50m freestyle and and 200m breaststroke to compete in.
Albert failed to make the finals of the equestrian competition today while Edwards bows into action on August 11th.
