Greek athlete withdraws from Games following positive drug test
A top-ranked high jumper has withdrawn from the Olympic Games following a positive drug test.
Dimitris Chondrokoukis of Greece, this year’s World Indoor high jump champion, failed a doping test when Stanozolol was found in his results.
Chondrokoukis is ranked in the event’s top ten and is the second Greek athlete to be dropped from that nation’s team this week.
The country’s triple jump champion, Voula Papachristou, was removed from the team after she made racist remarks on the popular social networking site Twitter.
