WITH the London 2012 Olympic Games less than a week away, it might be a good idea to take a brief look at the role TEENs will play in this year’s Games.

Yes, TEENs are going to be playing a role in such an important event.

The Olympics organisers have recruited over 3,000 TEENagers to help in various aspects of London 2012;ranging from steward duties like carrying athletes’ kits, to announcing official results and even helping in security.

The TEENs range from 16-19 and are said to be the ‘cream of the crop’ that showed leadership skills apt for the sheer size of such an event.

TEENs are involved everywhere, and these British TEENs will be alongside adults, serving their country in bringing the world the best possible Olympic Games.

Let us also not forget that TEENs will be supporting the operation of the London Games in the opening ceremony and as athletes.

This is not the first time TEENs will participate in the Olympics, as they have been involved in some way from as early as 776 BC when the Games were held in honour of the Greek gods Zeus and Hera.

TEENagers were still involved even at the start of the modern Olympic Games when only amateurs were allowed to participate.

And throughout the years we have remained involved as athletes, performers in the opening ceremony, and even stewards.
