Rock the Cloth and
This summer, Jamaicans have a lot to feel patriotic about and every reason to show up our true colours -The Black, Green and Gold. With Jamaica 50 celebrations and The Summer Olympics, there are so many reasons to proudly don our colours. We love to Rock the Cloth and show you how to always get the look, but we prefer it when the looks we make are useful and can live on in our wardrobes and be worn over and over, so we haven’t combined all three colours, because you may not want to wear multi-coloured outfits all the time. Instead we show you how to achieve three very simple silhouettes in each colour that you can accent with the other colours of our flag.
The Black is a pair of leggings which Alexandria wears here with a green blouse and yellow belt. Bangles in black, green and yellow complete the look. The top could very easily be made in yellow if that’s your preference, or black, because the accessories would still work well. To make the blouse, – fold fabric in half – cut out armhole at top of fold – mark and cut out neckline – cut out sleeve – and cut inward for waistline to hip – assemble and you’re done.
The Green is a simple tube maxi (a RTC favourite), which we’ve paired here with a black cage belt. The gold in this look we took literally, as the belt has gold studs; Sadida wears gold accessories: gold earrings and bangles, but there’s no mistaking that she’s celebrating the flag.
The Yellow is a simple strapless A-line maxi. Rebecca cinches the waist with a black belt and wears green and yellow beaded bracelets and necklace to finish the look.
It is quite clear that the girls are ready to celebrate Jamaica’s independence and our Olympic team in these ensembles, as they depict the of our flag.
