The Queen and the Anglican Church
Dear Editor,
Jamaicans should remember that it was Queen Elizabeth II who in 1964 agreed that the name of the said Incorporated Lay Body of the Church of England in Jamaica should be altered. An application was granted to the Incorporated Body for a Supplemental Charter giving it the name of the Incorporated Lay Body of the Church In Jamaica, in the Province of the West Indies.
As we celebrate 50 years of Independence, we should remember that our church properties were protected by a decree of 48 years.
The Church of Jamaica in the Province of the West Indies ought to protect all the properties and should not allow anyone to capture land illegally.
Therefore, we should congratulate the politician who intimated that the Government of Jamaica is considering the prosecution of anyone who has captured property, because this behaviour would be a criminal offence.
