Some sprinters absent from training camp
BIRMINGHAM, England – The Jamaican relay teams were due to go through baton changing practice this morning at the Monrow track facilities at the University of Birmingham.
It is not known, however, whether the teams were able to practice due to the absence of some of the sprinters at the training camp that was supposed to be mandatory for all the athletes.
Once again members of the media were unable to access the facilities and at least one Jamaican journalist was asked to leave the facilities by security guards who had earlier asked him not to take any photographs of the practice sessions.
A number of field event athletes including discus throwers Jason Morgan and Traves Smikle, shot putter Dorian Scott, and decathlete Maurice Smith were all seen heading for the training facilities along with other athletes.
The team is expected to hold another training session later today.
Meanwhile, the weather continues to be overcast with intermittent light rain.
