J’cans Fraser, Cummings on target abroad
Sean Fraser, one of five Jamaicans scoring in overseas domestic competitions on Saturday, struck twice for Alianza to whip Águila 3-0 at Estadio Juan Franciso Barraza in the new season of El Salvador’s top division football, the Apertura 2012.
The 29-year-old striker was on target in the 42nd and 75th minutes, after Josué Flores opened Alianza’s account in the 25th minute.
Fraser, who played for Harbour View and Portmore United, netted 14 goals in last season’s Apertura, while in the 2012 Clausura which ended on May, he was on target eight times.
Meanwhile, Omar Cummings, 30, notched his fifth goal in US Major League Soccer in Colorado Rapids 1-2 loss to FC Dallas at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Denver.
Cummings, who started in 13 of his 15 matches so far this season, booted home a right-foot effort in the 51st minute before Dallas rallied through Carlos Rodríguez and Fabián Castillo in the 60th and 81st minutes.
In the USL Pro League, third-tier division of American soccer, Navion Boyd grabbed his second goal of the season when he netted in the sixth minute for Charleston Battery to beat Wilmington Hammerheads 3-1 at Blackbaud Stadium in South Carolina.
His countryman Dane Kelly also scored for Charleston (in the 60th minute) with Scot teammate Nicholas Paterson adding the third in the 66th minute.
Kelly, 21, has moved his tally to four goals from 10 matches. A Tivoli Gardens player like Boyd, Kelly started in only three of those matches where he is averaging only 30 minutes a game.
Charleston are second in the league with 33 points from 17 matches, trailing only leaders Orlando City who are on 43 points from 18 matches.

Bryan, 28, has now scored two goals from 16 matches this season for Hai Phong who are at the bottom of the 14-team league with 11 points from 23 matches.
