Football administrator John Green passes
PRESIDENT of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), Captain Horace Burrell, has expressed surprise and grief on behalf of the Board of Directors of the JFF at the untimely passing of John Green, football administrator extraordinaire.
Green, who passed away yesterday morning at the May Pen hospital, was last seen publicly on Saturday at the South Central Confederation Under-13 and Under-15 competition, where he watched the games.
A past vice-president of the JFF and past member of the technical and development committee, Green spent his entire life in Jamaica as a coach and administrator of youth teams.
He was responsible, to a significant extent, for the growth of youth football in the parish of Clarendon and held passionate views on the development of the sport at the youth level.
He was an Honorary Life member of the Clarendon FA and was honoured with the Order of Distinction (OD) by the Government of Jamaica in 2011 in recognition of his contribution to the development of youth football.
Burrell stated: “This is a significant loss to the parish of Clarendon and the entire football fraternity. His dedication to the development of young talent was unequalled and he will be sincerely missed.
“The JFF extends heart-felt condolences to his wife Alice, his four children and the Clarendon football fraternity.
