Tiffany James wins Papine first ever gold
PAPINE High won their first ever gold medal at Champs today after Tiffany James ran a well timed race to win the Class 3 girls 400m final clocking a fine 54.93 seconds.
James is expected to win the 400m/800m double after winning the two lap race at the CARIFTA Trials three weeks ago to make her first national team.
Hydel High’s Semoy Hemmings was second in 55.40 seconds and Shenice Cohen of Holmwood Technical third in 55.89 seconds.
Vere Technical’s Shericka Jackson made it first and second for Vere Technical after beating team mate Olivia James to win the Class 1 event ahead of Herbert Morrison’s Renae Ambersley.
Yanique McNeil, also of Vere won the Class 2 quartermile race by running down the fast starting Asain Hall of Petersfield to win in 53.35 seconds while Saqukine Cameron of Edwin Allen surged over the last 15 metres to grab the silver ahead of Hall, 54.22 seconds to 54.31 seconds.
