Edwin Allen head home to celebrate
A full two and half hours before the end of the Champs 2012, girls champions designate Edwin Allen had plans to start their celebrations and says they were heading home to Frankfield, Clarendon to celebrate with their friends and family.
Head coach Michael Dyke told the Jamaica Observer just after 6:00 pm,
“We are not staying in Kingston tonight, we have been here since Tuesday, we want to go home.”
Edwin Allen opened up an insurmountable lead over the nine time champions Holmwood Technical and lead by 115 points after 33 finals 268-153 and Holmwood’ coach Maurice Wilson had long since conceded there would not be a 10th title for his charges.
Wilson who was at the helm as he took the Christiana, Manchester school from also-rans to the top, said the injury to the influential Chrissann Gordon in the semi-finals of the 400m on Friday had killed the vibes in the camp.
“It changed everything in the camp’ he said of Gordon’s injury, but raised his hat to Dyke and he Edwin Allen team.
“Congrats to the worthy champions,” he said.
