Holmwood’s Gordon out to injury
HOLMWOOD Technical High suffered a massive blow to their title defense at the 102nd ISSA/GraceKennedy Girls Championships after Chrisann Gordon was stretchered off the track in tears earlier this afternoon.the Observer, Gordon was about 90 per cent fit and would be able to take part at Champs.
The Pan-American Games 400m champion collapsed less than 20 metres into the semi-final of the Class 2 400m and was taken to the medical area on a stretcher.
If she is unable to take further part in the championships it would be a severe blow to Holmwood’s hopes of winning a 10th straight title as she was expected to score heavily in both the 400m and 800m as well as run in the 4x400m relays.
This was the second injury for the athlete after she also went down in the finals of the CARIFTA Games Under 20 400m at the stadium east field a month ago.
