Edwin Allen’s Gayle shatters class 3 discus record
EDWIN Allen High’s Paul-Ann Gayle did not just break her own one year old Girls Class 3 discus throw record at the 102nd ISSA/GraceKennedy Girls and Boys Championships but destroyed both the existing mark and the rest of the competition on her way to back to back gold medals.Observer she was “confident” she would retain her title after dominating her rivals all season and hailed her event coach Marlon Gayle who she said was responsible for her success so far.
The 15 year-old broke her own mark of 39.55m set last year on her first throw in the finals when she landed the disc at 40.97m then went on to surpass that on two more occasions as she threw over 40m three times in a clean sheet that showed no fouls.
She could be excused if she was not as excited as she should be but her personal best is still some ways off after she threw 45.45m to win at Central Champs.
