Digicel hits one million customer activation with new rate
JUST three weeks after announcing its new ‘One Rate’ option of $8.99 for calls to any number on any local network at any time, Digicel is now announcing that it has hit the milestone of one million customer activations.
Launched on Friday, March 2, Digicel’s new “One Rate” option sees prepaid customers saving up to 47 per cent on local calls and being able to take advantage of this new option simply by dialling *155# on their mobile phones.
Mark Linehan, CEO of Digicel Jamaica, said: “The customer reaction to our new ‘One Rate’ option of $8.99 has been phenomenal as evidenced by over one million of our customers now enjoying the benefits of calling any number, on any local network at any time for only $8.99 per minute.”
Linehan added: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their loyalty to Digicel and assure them of our continued commitment to delivering best value.
“This is a very important milestone for us as it means that over one million of our prepaid customers are now enjoying the benefits of our $8.99 ‘One Rate’ option to call any number, on any local network, at any time and we are looking forward to launching our ‘One Rate’ option for our post-paid customers later this month. Commenting on what’s next in the pipeline for Digicel, Linehan said, “With an investment of over US$30 million in upgrading our network, we will soon be launching 4G Mobile right across Jamaica with 80 per cent population coverage on launch day”.
