TELECOMMUNICATIONS provider LIME yesterday announced that on Monday, March 12 it will be boosting the experience of customers on its network to include the power of 4G technology.

The company will be rolling out the red carpet for customers at select LIME locations across the island for them to be the first to experience the superior technology which is only available in the USA, Japan and some European nations. The enhanced services, in what have been dubbed ‘4G Experience Zones’, will be concentrated in key commercial and residential districts.

For LIME customers, this means that persons who operate 4G-enabled devices in and around these areas will be able to access super-fast data transmission speeds.

Grace Silvera, Regional Vice-President, Marketing & Corporate Communications, says, “LIME is proud to be the first to bring to Jamaica the experience of 4G technology which builds on our track record of having the best mobile data experience. This has catapulted Jamaica into the realm of a handful of countries around the world with this technology standard.”

According to Silvera, LIME will be the first to offer an opportunity for customers to experience the capability of the most advanced network technology in the world within the selected zones covering the large business district of Knutsford Boulevard and other sections of New Kingston, Carlton Crescent, Half-Way-Tree Road, Portmore Mall and the immediate surrounding areas, as well as Fairview Mall in Montego Bay, St James.

4G-compatible devices include the Samsung Galaxy SII, BlackBerry Bold 9900, the Apple iPhone 4S and the Huawei Mifi E586 and will be available for the experience in LIME retail stores.

Customers can surf the Internet, browse social media networks like Facebook and Twitter and download a variety of content for as little as $100 per day.

Customers are invited to visit the four LIME locations on Monday to experience 4G with the latest devices on market. They will also be treated to exciting giveaways including phones, tablets, credit and mobile Internet modems.

The introduction of 4G will also serve as a platform for future network development as its current protocols are fully compatible with the Long Term Evolution technology that will power mobile networks in the future, says LIME.

The company became the first to offer nation-wide 4G voice and data technologies in Cayman and Barbados last year.
