Sangster’s Book Stores and Crayola partner with Do Good Jamaica
SANGSTER’S Book Stores, distributors of Crayola in Jamaica, is pleased to partner with Do Good Jamaica to provide crayons and crayon maker machines to Crayons Count! for Early Childhood Institutions across the island.
The first years of a child’s life are crucial in developing their sense of wonder, exploration and creativity. No single item speaks to this expression of imagination and creativity like crayons.
The Crayola brand is trusted the world over for its emphasis on child safety and colours almost as vivid as a child’s imagination. Sangster’s Book Stores and Crayola welcome the opportunity to provide material to enhance the learning process for our children.
Do Good Jamaica is absolutely delighted to have the support of Sangster’s Book Stores and Crayola for our project Crayons Count! Crayons Count! has two objectives: 1) to put a learning kit of materials in every early childhood institution in Jamaica and 2) to increase awareness of the importance of early childhood education.
We are deeply appreciative of the donation that will help us to reach our crayons target for the learning kits with Crayola crayons and our own crayons made from recycled crayon bits, which would have been otherwise discarded. The support of the world trusted brand Crayola is a significant contribution in our collective effort to help shape a generation. Indeed, the campaign name, “Crayons Count!”, highlights the fact that crayons do count; they matter. Crayons allow children to be creative and expressive while they learn to become numerate and literate.
The donation will be received at the joint Kingston Book Festival/Do Good Jamaica Festival to be held on March 17th 2012 at Emancipation Park. With book readings for the whole family and FREE activities for kids, the day is designed to offer fun, educational activities for children such as robotics, recycling, an appearance by Sesame Street characters, thanks to the Sandals Foundation and of course, arts and crafts with donated materials thanks to Sangster’s Book Stores.
