Top teams poised for success in Open League
DEFENDING champions JAMALCO, along with Tivoli “A”, should easily increase their lead in the “Elite” Group of the JNBS/JNA Open League which resumes on Saturday at the Leila Robinson Courts.
However, many-time Open League champions JAMALCO, who have won the Open League title on many occasions, will not be in action until January 12 when they face sister company WINDALCO, starting at 5:45 pm.
The Winston Nevers-coached Clarendon-based aggregation is yet to lose a game in the “Elite” Group and their big match-up against Tivoli “A”, coached by Sylvester “Chris” Campbell, will not be played until Saturday, January 29 to determine the winner of the group.
Tivoli “A”, who are also unbeaten, will be facing WINDALCO this Saturday and should be expected to come out winners over Nevers’ girls, who at times can create upsets.
Former many-time Open League champions Waulgrovians “A”, coached by Marvette Anderson, should easily come out victorious over Tivoli “B”, who are lying at the bottom of the standings.
Meanwhile, in the big clash in Group 1, joint leaders with six points, Alpha “A” and Raven “B”, should engage in a keenly-contested, while third-placed Waulgrovians “B” should come out winners over Hellshire “B”.
SKIBO, coached by Wayne Stewart, should emerge winners over UWI Pelicans “B”, while third-placed Police “A” should beat bottom-of-the-table Upper Camp “A” in Group 2 action, starting at 1:15 pm.
The first round of the 32 matches slated to be played on Saturday is scheduled to begin at 1:15 pm with a game between Raven “B” and Tantrum.
