Voters want to see what else Holness can do
Dear Editor:
I am not feeling any anticipation for today’s elections. I do not know why, but I just get the sense that other persons are either disinterested in the political process or less inclined to show who they favour publicly due to the threat of possible violence by foolish persons. Either way I get the feeling that PNP supporters are adamant about removing the JLP Government while others want to see what else the JLP administration can do with Andrew Holness as prime minister.
I think that most persons are recognising that neither party will be able to solve all their individual problems. People are realising that they cannot sit back and relax and expect the Government to give them all they need.
I’ve always believed that the purpose of government is to ensure that people are afforded basic things such as proper social facilities and infrastructure. With certain mechanisms in place, the playing field, so to speak, is levelled as all are given the same opportunities to excel in life. The Government is supposed to ensure that its citizens are safe, educated and healthy. The possibilities are endless when a country’s people are given the opportunity and resources to be creative and productive.
