Phillips: We won’t do it again
OPPOSITION spokesman on finance Peter Phillips said the People’s National Party would not repeat the mistakes that led to the financial meltdown and FINSAC in the 1990s.
The PNP, said Phillips, was committed to the tightest possible control of fiscal policy to prevent a recurrence of the dramatic fluctuations in the interest rate, which, he said, created the conditions that led to FINSAC.
Phillips was speaking at the national debate on finance and the economy, the second of three in the lead-up to the 2011 general election. His opponent was Finance Minister Audley Shaw of the governing Jamaica Labour Party.
