Have fact-finding discussions after debates
Dear Editor,
Analysts have declared that members of the PNP were the better team in the recently concluded national debates by youth representatives for both political parties. There are now questions being raised about such declarations. They have voted Lisa Hanna the best overall speaker and Warren Newby the best speaker for the JLP.
I would like the media to have fact-finding discussions to unearth what the truth really is after each of these debates. Both parties need to stop trying to hide the truth behind well spoken representatives. It is offensive to the intelligence of the Jamaican people.
After hearing Mr Pryce’s revelation that the last time a school was built in Jamaica under the PNP administration, I was especially troubled and upset with Mr Holness who is the minister of education. My anger then turned into absolute shock. Did Mr Pryce not think that such an allegation, given the fact that Mr Holness is the minister of education, would be aggressively investigated? Mr Pryce got me all riled up and so I typed into Google “schools being built in Jamaica”, and to my surprise I didn’t find what Mr Pryce said. He is a good speaker who presents himself well. He was so well spoken and so sure of himself that I was listening attentively to everything he said. Therefore I afterwards took as personal what he said about schools.
I am asking that politicians stop trying to score political points by not giving all the facts, because Jamaicans are now discovering the facts. It does not matter how well presented or well spoken representatives are.
