Granville lose but advance to Division One final
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Despite losing Sunday’s second leg of the Western Basketball Association’s Division One final by four points, 64-68, to Montego Bay Cricket Club Knights at the Montego Bay Cricket Club, Granville Wolfpack advanced to the best-of-three finals against Lucea Flames.
Granville qualified for the final on a better aggregate over both legs of the semi-final after winning Saturday’s first leg by 14 points, 96-82.
Flames advanced after MoBay Lions failed to show up for their first game in Lucea on Saturday.
The first game in the final will be played on Saturday, with the other two games the following weekend.
On Sunday, Knights came back from a nine-point deficit at half-time to outscore Wolfpack, 41-28, in the second half, but failed to score the 15 points win that would have given them the edge.
Fitzroy Gordon scored a game-high 25 points for the Knights, while Jamoi Richards scored 18 points and Andre Uter 23 points for Wolfpack, and Dwayne Keane 14.
On Saturday, Uter scored 20 points in Wolfpack’s win. Dorian Thelwell scored 28 points and Daniel Malcolm got 16 for Granville.
