Flexxing with Tye Tribbett
REACHING the number one spot on the Billboard Charts and winning multiple awards has done nothing but motivate this renowned man of God.
So when Digicel was looking for a headline gospel international act for the Digicel Christmas concert, Grammy and Stellar award winner Tye Tribbett was the obvious pick.
“It is always a pleasure coming to Jamaica. I always feel like family when I am here,” is what he told TEENage minutes after his high-energy performance at the Digicel Christmas Concert held at the National Stadium car park last Thursday.
During his performance he surely delivered and had those in attendance rocking from side to side at the sound of some of his biggest hits including No Other Choice, No Way, So Amazing and Victory.
With a powerful voice and a heart to worship, Tribbett has managed to set boundaries in the music arena worldwide with his captivating music and his album sales attest to this.
Back in the day with Greater Anointing by his side, 2004 saw him releasing his first album titled Life. He went at it again in 2006 and gave us the smashing hit album Victory, which left many persons wanting for more. He later satisfied the want with Standout in 2008, which like Victory went platinum.
Little after this, Tribbett’s life took a big turn where he found himself walking away from God. During this period of hardship, he took a step away from the music and the limelight to get his life back on track with God.
This absence was a period of reshaping, rebuilding and reconciliation with God and his family. This rebirth of a fresh life and a fresh anointing lead him to release his first solo project Fresh in 2010.
With his testimony, Tye Tribbett has managed to capture the spirits and hearts of young believers with a new and power-filled anointing. Speaking about this he stated: “The anointing breaks the yolk and sets the captive free. With just a pretty voice and no anointing, which is the enabler, it is impossible to minister effectively.”
Tribbett is indeed a trendsetter in the gospel music industry. His level of intensity, his fashion sense and of course his love for worship are definite contributing factors to winning souls for the Kingdom. As he puts it, “I consider my music to be kingdom building music.”
For the next person who feels like giving up on life, Tye Tribbett had this to say: “I have been through my challenging times and I overcame them. This is why I strongly believe that this is a season for breakthrough for the believer and the non-believer who is going through hard times. The storm placed in our lives were not sent by God to keep us down, but to build us.”
