Fastest Jamaican amateur runners fly off to Brazil
RED Bull Speed trap winners will enjoy the fastest sport on the planet, the formula 1 finale in Sao Paulo, Brazil on November 27th.
After circling the island measuring locals top speeds in a 15m dash, Red Bull Speed Trap crowned quick-footed Shelia Campbell and Zennife Fowler who claimed victory with his top speed of 38.6km/hr as the winners of the Red Bull Speed Trap island-wide running event.
“I’ve always been in every sports day from primary school to high school and even at Mico. But when Red Bull came on campus, one of my friends came to me and said Zennife try it out because you have the leg speed, go and run it,” Zennife exclaimed.
“Thankfully I won and off to Brazil soon; I’ve only dreamt of it [Brazil] so getting this opportunity now, I’ll definitely enjoy the experience.”
Both winners have been awarded with an all expense paid trip to attend one of the most anticipated motorsports events of the year, the F1 World Championships scheduled for November 25-27 at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in the beautiful Sao Paulo, Brazil.
During their jaunt they will be granted the experience of hearing the sounds of tyres drifting over asphalt, the speed of the World Champion Red Bull Racing Formula 1 race car passing you in the blink of an eye, indulging in an adrenaline-aided experience many have not been close to even imagine.
The speedy youths proved that they had both academic and athletic abilities. Shelia Campbell reigns from the parish of St Ann and is an active member at her institution, Brown’s Town Community College in the female empowered sport of netball.
Fleeting Zennife indeed amazed patrons and schoolmates throughout the event with his dashing victory, though sports were not new to him. Fowlers, being a former batsman for his past school of Holmwood Technical High dominated the course with his brisk 45.91km/hr in effort to win.
