Brown’s brace boosts Barbican
Barbican’s impressive start to the Claro/KSAFA/Super League continued yesterday after Leon Brown scored twice to lead them to a 2-0 victory over Olympic Gardens for their third win in as many matches.
In other matches, 1-0 results were the order of the day as Santos, Rae Town and Mountain View registered single goal victories over UWI, August Town and Rockfort, respectively.
Barbican lead the standings with nine points two more than Mountain View on seven.
At Barbican field, Brown fired the home team ahead after 25 minutes, before sealing the win for the Miguel Coley-coached team with his second of the day just past the hour mark.
Meanwhile, only Mountain View were able to stay in touch of the leaders after Terrence Allen’s 45th-minute strike saw them past UWI, who were losing their second game in three matches.
Pre-season favourites August Town also suffered a major set-back after they were turned back by Andre Williams’ lone strike for Rae Town in time added on at Breezy Castle.
Meanwhile, Duhaney Park were down to face Constant Spring in a late game last evening, while the match between Cavalier and Greenwich Town has been rescheduled to Tuesday.
In the Major League, Allman/Woodford took sole leadership of the table after goals from Damion Williams and Miguel Graham saw them to a 2-0 win over Meadforest at Heroes Circle.
In other games, Police National clipped Shortwood 1-0, Real Mona turned back JDF 2-1, Pembroke Hall stopped Cooreville 2-0, Molynes got by Swallowfield 2-1, while New Kingston and Brown’s Town were 1-0 winners against Maxfield and Bull Bay, respectively.
