An M-tastic affair
IT was an unforgettable evening — fine wines, great food and, of course, BMW connoisseurs who gathered at the Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records for the launch of the M Lounge on Tuesday.
“Tonight we launch the M Lounge with our signature drink, M Joy,” said Duncan Stewart, before cutting the ribbons to declare the lounge open.
The M Joy is a cocktail made from chilled Appleton Reserve.
Stewart, the general manager of the family-owned Stewart Motors, said for BMW the letter M is the most powerful in the alphabet.
“M cars are built from BMW’s Motorsport technology and adapted for everyday use. The M radiates power and superiority but always retains a sense of poise, with a balance of timeless elegance and modernity, while being sporty, with exclusive aesthetics and authentic motor-racing functionality,” he said. “The Lounge is a lifestyle marker of these qualities — celebrating the shared qualities of the speed, power and agility of BMW M and Usain ‘Lightning’ Bolt.”
“The M Lounge illustrates the loyalty between two brands — loyalty built on consistent performance and a shared view towards exceeding one’s own highest expectations,” the general manager continued.
Kevin Bourke, director of KLE Group, operators of Fiction nightclub and Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records said he was pleased the ‘merger’ and it was in keeping with the vision for the sports bar named in honour of the fastest man alive.
“We intend to create a one-of-a-kind experience and we’re certainly doing this,” Bourke told Auto.
Sadiki Bolt, brother of the world’s fastest man — Usain Bolt — advised the gathering that Usain was unable to attend because he was still in Europe having just collected the IAAF 2011 Athlete of the Year Award.
” Usain totally supports the growth and development of Tracks and Records and sees the partnership as a way to create jobs for Jamaicans,” his sibling read from a message sent by the athlete. “I congratulate BMW and Tracks and Records for this venture and wish the best of luck to everyone.”
