Woman, brothers implicated in missing boy’s kidnapping
A woman and her two brothers implicated in last month’s kidnapping of a 16- year-old boy, have been remanded into police custody.
Charged with kidnapping and conspiracy to kidnap are Kerry-Ann Brown, a 28-year-old cashier; Owen Brown, a 26-year-old mechanic; and 25-year-old carpenter, David Brown, all of a Red Hills Road address in St Andrew.
The boy has not yet been found.
According to police reports, on October 24, about 8:30 am, the boy was walking along Red Hills Road when a Toyota Hiace van, which was reportedly being driven by the female accused, stopped beside him. The two male accused who were inside the vehicle reportedly chased the boy and seriously beat him.
He reportedly managed to escape and jump over a fence but was again chased and beaten further by the two men who threw him onto the roadway. He was then placed inside the van, which sped off.
He has not been seen since.
Last Thursday the defence attorney vehemently denied the allegations in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.
The lawyer told the court that the young man, who lives beside the accused persons, was involved in a court matter with the female accused and that on the day he was allegedly kidnapped he was scheduled to appear in the Family Court to compensate Kerry-Ann for damaging her vehicle.
Additionally, the lawyer told the court that the juvenile was adamant that he would not return to court.
The investigating officer, however, told the court that the accused persons were positively identified by two witnesses.
All three were remanded into custody until December 2.
