Inter-Hotel football competition heats up
ROSE HALL, St James — Despite snapping Grand Palladium’s perfect win record by playing out a 2-2 draw against the semi-final qualifiers in a Zone A game at Half Moon on Wednesday, Round Hill gave up a good chance of securing there own place in the Ventura Elegant Corridor Inter-Hotel Football competition.
Round Hill gave up a 2-0 lead late in the game as last year’s beaten finalists came back to snatch a point with goals from Darion Streete in the 70th minute and Romaine Smith in the 89th.
Nahien Lee had staked Round Hill to a 2-0 lead with goals in the 32nd and 63rd minutes.
Grand Palladium have, meanwhile, secured their semi-final place and lead Zone A with 10 points, while the other four teams are battling out for the other place.
Round Hill who are in second place on five points, however needs only a point from their rescheduled game against last placed Sandals Royal on Tuesday to get into the top four play-offs.
Iberostar on four points and Coyaba who are on three points will meet in another rescheduled game on Monday.
Coyaba kept themselves in the race with a 2-1 win over Sandals Royal earlier this week.
Jovanie Green scored in the 15th minute to give Coyaba he lead, but Anthony Small equalised in the 29th, before Kandeno Willison scored the winner in the 56th.
Meanwhile, a new champion will be crowned this year after last year’s winners, Half Moon, failed to make it into the semi-finals from Zone B
Half Moon won just one of their three games to finish on three points behind Riu Resorts, who won all three games for nine points, and Secrets Resorts, who had six points from two wins.
