WBA division one semi-final spots to be decided on Saturday
MONTEGO BAY, St James – TWO teams from the three contenders for the places in the semi-finals of the Western Basketball Association’s Division One will be known this Saturday at the Montego Bay Boys’ Club, when Boys’ Club Warriors and Granville Wolfpack meet in a rescheduled game.
Both teams, as well as Montego Bay Lions are in contention to join Lucea Flames and Montego Bay Cricket Club Knights in the semi-finals.
Warriors, who beat Knights by three points 58-55 on Saturday, are tied with Wolfpack on six points and the winner on Saturday will gain a place, while the other spot will be decided on tiebreakers between the loser and Lions who are on seven points.
Flames who lead the points tables are going undefeated through the regular season, winning all five games while Knights who lost their final two games are on eight points.
Last weekend, Sheldon Lyle’s game high 28 points led Warriors who were outscored 38-31 over the last two quarters.
Warrior got off to the better start and led 13-5 after the first quarter and 27-17 at half-time before Knights started their come back.
Knights outscored Warriors 24-20 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to six points 47-41 and further cut into it in the fourth quarter but could not overhaul the Warriors team.
Fabian Gifford also scored 10 points for Warriors, while Fitzroy Gordon led Knights with 18 points and Christopher Smith scored 16 points.
On Sunday, MoBay Lions got a win after March Town Spartan failed to show for their game.
