Get on with the election
Dear Editor,
I am of the view that too much time is being wasted on the calling of names and frequent squabbles between the two major political parties. It causes me to wonder how much time the Opposition and the Government really have left to carry out the productive business of governance in the interest of the people, if they are constantly seeking to score political points at each others’ expense.
The solution to this problem is a prompt election. Get the election over and done with. In this way, whichever party forms the government will be able to take up the mantle and focus on growing the economy.
The Electoral Office of Jamaica says the country is in a relative state of readiness for a general election. It was confirmed that the necessary supplies that were ordered for the purpose of conducting the elections will be available in short order. Therefore, I see no reason for a prolonged period of wasteful political confrontations.
Let us hope that those in charge will act responsibly and ultimately in the country’s best interest. This is a clear waste of time that could be used in engineering the county’s development instead.
