Good morals necessary for Parliament
Dear Editor,
Serving in the House of Parliament is indeed one of the greatest honours that can be bestowed on any citizen of any nation. Therefore, it is essential that those chosen to represent their fellow citizens be of high integrity.
It is important to note that these are the individuals who will make the laws and regulations that will govern the people of the land. As such, they should be exemplars in every sphere of life. They should possess the requisite moral authority to rule without reservation.
It would be plain hypocrisy for individuals to be allowed to serve their country by being members of Parliament, or contest the polls if they are not “clean”. Let’s move forward honestly.
