No goals in Reno-Portmore match
FROME, Westmoreland — Home team Reno FC played to 0-0 draw with visitors Portmore United in their National Premier League fixture at the Frome Sports Complex on Sunday.
Faced with heavy underfoot conditions caused by early afternoon showers, both teams battled for control to a sparse audience.
Reno employed their typical long passing game, while Portmore opted for short, snappy one-two combinations on the flanks and counterattacks that harassed the Reno’s defence.
Portmore custodian Garice McPherson did well to deny Reno’s captain Nicholy Finlayson and Shashamarley Barrett on at least two occasions in the first hour.
Rosario Harriott, Dmarley Samuels, Alanzo Adlam and captain Trimaine Stewart were the standouts for Portmore, with the latter forcing a Reno ‘keeper Dennis Taylor to punch clear in the 61st minute.
“We created a few chances in the first half, but didn’t put them away,” lamented Portmore coach Calvin Lewis. “Our decision making was a bit poor at times,” he added.
Reno’s assistant coach Michael Graham said: “It was a good game, though we gave away the ball too many times and must now dig deeper to try and score goals.”
