All the Pasta You Can Eat
Thursday Life contributor Jacqui ‘Juicy Chef’ Sinclair wrote a story three weeks ago announcing that pasta is now the world’s most popular staple after a survey done by Oxfam, a world-renowned non-governmental organisation (NGO). This is perhaps what inspired Ocean’s 21 restaurateur Mark Chong to start his ‘All You Can Eat Pasta Tuesdays’ special. It’s been only four weeks since the eatery opened to the public, and Chong is already pleased with the traffic he has seen. And to up the tempo a bit, he decided to provide the world’s most popular dish all night on Tuesdays at an affordable price.
The ‘All You Can Eat Pasta Tuesdays’ menu features penne, linguine, farfalle and twist pasta, with wholewheat options for the health-conscious pasta lover. Add to that an array of tasty accompaniments to choose from — shrimp, chicken and jerked sausage, along with vodka cream, tomato basil or alfredo sauces, and you’ll understand why the Tuesday night initiative has been such a hit with foodies in the Corporate Area.
“Everybody loves pasta. We’re giving our customers all the pasta they can eat, and the best part is, they can create their own dishes. No limits,” Chong told Thursday Food.
This is just the beginning for Mark Chong who has been in the food industry for well over a decade, having his genesis with Island Events and Caterers. “For me it’s a matter of diversity, so when the opportunity presented itself for me to have my own restaurant, I quickly grabbed hold of it,” he explained. There are also plans in the pipeline to dedicate other days to specials and giving back to his customers. He told Thursday Food of a shrimp happy hour on Thursdays, where customers will get 20 per cent off shrimp, as well as a Sunday brunch, which will, we’re sure, continue on a similarly successful path where foodies take advantage of the delectable eats at hard-to-beat prices.
