‘Butch’ Stewart celebrates FNO
MONTEGO BAY, St James — OBSERVER chairman Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart has described this year’s staging of the Jamaica OBSERVER CELEBRATES FASHION’s NIGHT OUT (FNO) “fabulous and incredible”.
“What an incredible idea! Last year was incredible, and this year is turning out to be even better,” Stewart told the Sunday Observer on Thursday, following a tour of several stores in the Whitter Village in Ironshore.
He was accompanied by his son, Adam Stewart, the deputy chairman of the Jamaica Observer, and Mitchell Watson, group public relations manager for Sandals Resorts International and ATL.
The chairman noted that FNO has had a tremendous impact on the local economy.
“It makes the wheel of commerce turn; it is one big contributor to the economy,” he argued.
He added that he had been told by a number of businessmen that during last year’s staging of the event, they did more business than at Christmas Eve, which is traditionally the busiest shopping day in the island.
The Observer chairman commended the business sector for its participation and lauded the staff of the Observer for staging the annual event.
