Cops to flood streets for FNO
THE police say they will be out in numbers this evening when thousands of people are expected to flood major shopping centres across the island to take advantage of huge discounts as the Jamaica Observer celebrates FASHION’S NIGHT OUT.
Karl Angell, the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s director of communication says that the police have done their due diligence and “are assuring that adequate security will be in place at the major shopping areas”.
However, the police have issued the following tips to shoppers to ensure their safety:
* park in designated areas and not in dark areas;
* don’t leave valuables in motor vehicles during the period you are away from your vehicles;
* do not to block main roads, side roads and points of entry and exit of private or public property;
* don’t park on sidewalks; and
* there should be no obstruction of traffic or persons who want to conduct their lawful business.
In addition to the parking spaces in shopping malls, motorists are being asked to use the parking facilities being provided by some of the participating stores.
The Observer’s celebration of FASHION’S NIGHT OUT is scheduled to run from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm during which time stores will be offering huge discounts.
