Beauties & breakfast
With just two days until one of the 20 beauties vying to be this year’s Miss Jamaica World walks away with the coveted title, the ladies were up at the crack of dawn last Saturday morning. Their destination — Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records — to watch the eatery’s eponymous track superstar run the 200-metre finals (and claim his familiar gold medal) at the World Championships in South Korea. Warmly welcomed by staffers and management at the eatery, the beauty pageant’s contestants cheered on Lightning Bolt’s prowess on the track and also tucked into an early breakfast. The comfort-food menu, billed “A World Championship Breakfast”, featured morning staples like scrambled eggs, French toast, and ackee and saltfish. Whipped up by executive chef Vinton Fletcher (see Chef on the Rise on Page 15) and his able culinary team, plates exiting the kitchen were finished in quick order. Beautiful women too, have an appetite. Thursday Food features scenes from the breakfast.
