Stylin’ with… Yanique Barrett
WHEN it comes on to being in the spotlight it would seem Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall host Yanique Barrett was made for it.
As a child she ran through the halls of the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation, where her father Astley Barrett worked for 16 years as a cameraman and editor. So now she feels like she has come full circle carving her own niche in TV land — first in TV production before being professionally trained in video production at Creative Production and Training Centre (CPTC). Her training, she says, has widened her perspective on the dynamics of video production and presentation.
As talented behind the camera she still manages to light up the screen in front with her savvy fashion sense.
As Jamaica OBSERVER CELEBRATES FASHION’S NIGHT OUT on Thursday, September 8, this budding broadcaster will share her style moments. We just had to find out Barrett’s favourite local shopping hang out and its Style Savvy located in the Seventh Avenue Plaza.
What does this fashion-forward presenter of the E-Blaze on FAME FM like in international fashion? “I love Herve Leger, because his dresses show all my curves and for shoes Alexander McQueen,” she shared, adding that when it comes on to her favourite scent it’s definitely Lady Million by Paco Rabanne.
Barrett describe her style as “edgy, yet taste-fully sexy”.
This fun-loving, driven and determined young lady says whenever casual is required she kicks into leggings and a crop top mode, complemented by ballet flats.
