Reggae Racers verbally abused in Barbados
JAMAICA’S Reggae Racers team were verbally abused today when appearing at the Caribbean Motor Racing Championships (CMRC) at the Bushy Park race track in Barbados today.
The Barbados Auto Racing League (BARL) welcomed the Jamaican team and ensured our experience was comfortable. They were, however, unable to prevent the unsavoury abuse directed by spectators at the Jamaicans.
Yesterday heavy rain prevented qualification but allowed the Reggae Racers to test their tires on the wet tarmac.
The practice session today was bad for Dean Shaw as he did not get the rain tires needed for the wet track, while Peter Rae was able to test the limits of his car.
Andre Anderson, George Bayley and David Summerbell reported relatively satisfactory practice sessions, and looked forward to the racing.
There were no qualifying races for the CMRC motorcyclists, because of time limitations so Stefan Chin, Halquin Rodney, Dwight Smart and other motorcyclists will be gridded based on CMRC Points from the first leg that was held in Jamaica.
Riders who did not compete will have to start at the back of the pack.
“The bikes get no practice time or qualifying laps. We at least expected to get some warm up time like the cars, but that didn’t happen, so we will have to just go out there and do our best,” said Chin, holder of David Summerbell Dover motorcycle track record.
