10 Things you may not know about Vivica A Fox
The Jamaica OBSERVER CELEBRATES FASHION’S NIGHT OUT (FNO) on September 8, 2011, and the excitement heightens even more with merely a week till the spectacular shopping event. There is, too, the powerhouse collab between Permanent Cosmetics Studio & Boutique director Racquel Jenkins Moss-Solomon, and owner of the chic SoHo atelier Michele Coulton — both known for their elaborate FNO productions each year. Not only are they staging ‘The Fashion Meets Make-up Experience’ for their fab clients, but it will also be hosted by internationally acclaimed American actress Vivica A Fox. Naturally there will be much clamouring for a chance to rub shoulders with the Hollywood A-lister, and luckily, we’re sharing 10 interesting tidbits that can help you break the ice…
1 – The award-winning actress’s middle name is Anjanetta.
2 – Fox is half African American, half Native American, and the last of four children.
3 – She was a star athlete in high school and was a member of the basketball, volleyball, track and cheerleading teams. She later graduated from Golden West College with an associate art degree in Social Sciences.
4 – She was discovered while having lunch on Sunset Boulevard, California, by producer Trevor Walton, and made guest appearances in soap operas like Generations, Days of Our Lives and The Young and The Restless shortly after.
5 – She has 13 tattoos, including one on her arm that reads ‘strength, courage and wisdom’ inspired by her highly publicised break-up with rapper 50 Cent.
6 – The former model later reunited with the rapper to play his angry ex-girlfriend in the music video for the single Do You Think About Me?
7 – Fox is best known for her roles in the big screen films Kill Bill: Vol 1, Independence Day, Soul Food, Two Can Play That Game, and Set It Off. She also received the Lena Horne Career Achievement Award in 2003.
8 – She is also an NAACP award winning television and theatre producer with shows like Missing on Lifetime Network, Glam God with Vivica A Fox on VH-1 (which she also hosted) and the play Whatever She Wants on her list of credentials.
9 – Fox launched The Vivica Fox Hair Collection last year — a line of hand-made lacefront wigs and hair extensions which she will be featuring at Jamaica OBSERVER CELEBRATES FASHION’S NIGHT OUT (FNO) this year.
10 – The 47-year-old Leo is a self-professed ‘cougar’, and is currently engaged to 28-year-old club promoter Omar ‘Slimm’ White.
