Styling with… Konshens
BORN Garfield Spence, artiste Konshens knows how to put himself together on and off the stage. Enjoying a great buzz with songs such as Buss A Blank, Realest Song and Forward, he has managed to carve his own niche in the competitive world that’s called dancehall.
Come September 8, the Jamaica OBSERVER CELEBRATES FASHION’S NIGHT OUT and, of course, Konshens had to rap about his personal style.
When it comes to his style, Konshens says it is a reflection of his personality. “When I am moody then that’s the time I go all out to dress up and beat di girls dem baad!” he said with a chuckle.
And to ensure that he is sporting the right ensemble, Konshens frequents places such as Di Trends, Fashion Addiction, Tashamay’s Fashion and Michael’s in
the downtown arcade.
When it comes on to his all-time favourite local designer Romeich wins hands down. “Internationally, I don’t have any preference, I just rock what looks and feels good regardless of the price,” commented Konshens.
Scent is very important to Konshens and he has more than one favourite that he just has to splash. “It’s a wide array! Let’s see, there’s the new Chanel, Loud, Hugo Boss, and a female one name Lolita… yes a wear the female ones too!” he confessed, not the least bit embarrassed as he quipped that it’s only fair play as some women enjoy wearing male scents.
Konshens says a peek into his closet would reveal hundreds of shoes and jeans galore. “I have hundreds of shoes and I give them away monthly.” Speaking of footwear, Konshen says he has no favourite in shoes, but when it comes on to sneakers it’s still Jordans for him.
There are some things that Konshens still likes to keep simple and one of them is being jewellery free. “I am not a huge fan of jewellery, simplicity is my thing,” he admitted.
