Bolt to race 200m at Stockholm Diamond League
STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Jamaican sprint star Usain Bolt will run the 200 metres at the Stockholm Diamond League meeting on July 29, organisers said today.
Bolt, the world and Olympic double sprint champion, will be returning to the track where last year he lost the 100m to American Tyson Gay.
“I will be back — and I will not lose,” said Bolt, who also holds the world records for both sprint events.
Meet director Rajne Soderberg said: “It is a great pleasure to confirm Usain Bolt’s return to DN Galan.
“US sports channel Universal Sports voted last year’s 100 metres race at the DN Galan between Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay as the top performance of the year in 2010. It will be interesting to see Bolt run the 200 metres.”
Before Stockholm, the 11th meet on the 14-leg Diamond League circuit, Bolt will get an outing over 100m in Monaco on July 22 as he hones his preparations for defending his titles at the August 27-September 4 world championships in Daegu, South Korea.
