National Outdoor Advertising and Jamaica Broilers on the move with the JUTC
Following the re-appointment early this year of National Outdoor Advertising Limited ( NOA) to manage the advertising on the new JUTC bus fleet some impressive new images will soon become very familiar to the people of Kingston, Spanish Town and Portmore.
One of the first businessmen to take advantage of the situation was David Mair, VP of Jamaica Broilers, Best Dressed Chicken, who quickly saw the opportunity for his brand. He envisaged his company’s logo as a moving 500 square foot billboard traversing the streets of Saint Andrew and Saint Catherine and attracting massive public exposure. Mair also understood the positive social benefit by the brand being associated with comfortable air conditioned mass transit circulating daily through the heart and the arteries of his major market.
The first ten buses for Best Dressed Chicken will cover all four zones of the JUTC, and strategic placement of the units will generate the maximum OTS’s (Opportunities to see).
The USAID, a United States government agency which provides economic and humanitarian assistance worldwide, has also chosen this vehicle to spread its’ anti corruption message. A total of some thirty buses have so far been utilised by these two entities, whose messages are postured both inside and outside of their vehicles.
Although facing challenging economic times, both the USAID and Best Dressed Chicken quickly calculated the cost per thousand of advertising with the JUTC as simply the best value around.
National Outdoor Advertising -founded in the 1960s is a brand leader in ‘Out Of Home’ media. Its portfolio of around 1000 advertising faces in Jamaica is augmented by exclusive appointments to manage the advertising on 300 JUTC buses, as well as the exterior front and backlit sites at NMIA and the Cruise ship terminals at Ocho Rios and Montego Bay.
Speaking with Caribbean Business Report earlier this week, Account Director of National Outdoor Advertising Mark Haddad said: “This will prove to be a wonderful addition to the advertising industry as it is yet to fully optimise a mobile medium. In many developed cities like London and New York, this is the way to go. As far as Jamaica goes we conservatively estimate that 1.2 million people will see the ads. The Ministry of Transport is very excited by the project. Most of the buses are three quarter wraps and there is great interest from corporate Jamaica with other companies close to signing up.”
