Deon Silvera returning to Judgement for 100th performance
VETERAN actress Deon Silvera is scheduled to return in the memorable role of Janet when Judgement reopens with its 100th performance on June 14.
Alternating with Silvera will be Maria Walters, herself an accomplished actress, who joined the cast of the hit play for its overseas performances while Silvera showcased her talent in Big Tree Small Axe. Award-winning actors Dahlia Harris (writer and director) and Chris McFarlane complete the stellar cast.
Touted as one of the best productions of the year, the spell-binding drama returns to the local stage for one month only at the Green Gables Theatre. According to DMH Productions, producers of the show, the decision to re-open is largely based on the non-stop requests for the play since its last local performance in April.
“We are grateful to reach the 100 mark and in doing so, giving our support to various charities,” DMH said in a news release. “Groups continue to approach us for assistance with their fund-raising efforts while regular theatre-goers are eager to see the play based on the positive feedback they’ve received. It is our pleasure to be able to share our talent.”
A perfect blend of pulsating drama and laugh-a-line comedy, Judgement serves up a wonderful theatrical feast that has both critics and audiences rating it as the “must see show of year”!
The play is a startling examination of love, friendship, revenge and self-preservation and is centred on the relationship between two best friends Janet (Silvera) and Sasha (Harris) who find themselves the object of a man out for vengeance. The man, Antonio (McFarlane), on the surface appears to be the man of Janet’s dreams but unknown to her, he shares a dark past with her best friend Sasha. It becomes a deadly game and one that Janet and Sasha’s friendship must help them to overcome or they will both have to face their final judgement. Good faces evil, love overpowers hate; it’s a battle that audiences can’t help but partake in. In the end someone must pay… but who will it be?
Judgement will play at Green Gables Theatre from Tuesday to Friday at 8:30 pm while on Saturdays and Sundays there will be two performances at 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm. Only a few benefit dates are still available, so for additional information and ticket reservations individuals and organisations may call 926-4966 or 352-6180.
