Cutting-edge Event Styling
Among the presenters at the Foodie Seminar for the 2011 Jamaica Observer Food Awards was Main Event CEO Solomon Sharpe. Speaking on the topic “Event Styling with Cutting-Edge Technology”, Sharpe gave intricate insights on how one should coordinate an event using the most suitable, efficient and chic technology with the right budget. Sharpe outlined that when planning an event, one must embrace the digital universe. “We are in a digital age where technology is at the fore of almost everything that we do; it is the way forward,” Sharpe suggested.
In his presentation, the Main Event boss noted that it is important to fuse the concept of technology with fine design. Outlining that, done effectively, fusion creates a ‘wow factor’ that often leaves people amazed. He also posited that this fusion often leads to a return on investments, re-emphasising the known adage that one has to ‘spend money to make money’.
The truth is, as Sharpe put it, without the ‘wow factor’, companies and events may fail to impress the audience they are aiming to reach, and attracting that target is very possible using 3-D designs. There are various technologies that can be employed to suit the purpose, and all it takes is to add style to the technology. Sharpe suggested that there is technology to fit every budget. The inventive and innovative Main Event has within its grasp the most up-to-date technology to suit the needs of any business. He also underlined that this appeal could be achieved from a design as simple as having laser lights bounce from fabric into the atmosphere, creating a colourful, vibrant and spectacular display. Lighting, Sharpe said, is “one of the most important things in an event”, as it creates the ambience. Main Event is also capable of combining LED, plasma and touch-screen technology to generate even more interest in clients and patrons alike. Using digital technology, Sharpe displayed in his introduction how one can speak to an entire room without actually being there, a service he offers to his clients. For Solomon Sharpe, it is all about style, fine design and modern technology at its best. Fusing all this together he creates a ‘wow’ effect, and the best news is he’s committed to using this technology and art in the development of Jamaica.
