Obama says he wants oil producers to boost output
WASHINGTON DC, USA
AMID a surge in the cost of gasoline, President Barack Obama said yesterday he is calling on major oil producers such as Saudi Arabia to increase their oil supplies and lower prices, warning that lack of relief would harm the global economy.
The national average price for gasoline hit US$3.87 per gallon yesterday, more than a dollar higher than it was last year. Benchmark crude for June delivery was little changed yesterday, losing seven cents to settle at US$112.21 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
