Honey Bun’s Coconut Roll
Honey Bun has added a tasty new addition to its product line — a coconut roll. An upbeat Krystal Chong, director of marketing and business development at Honey Bun, came bearing samples of the roll (along with actual jelly coconuts to boot) last Friday, confidently waltzing into our editorial department with Antoinette Morgan, promotions and customer service manager.
As bite-size samples were sliced and handed out to editorial staffers, we snatched Chong away from sharing duties to get more info on the product that has been on supermarket shelves a mere two weeks. Chong told us that since its short time on the market and on the heels of the success of the coconut donut and the increased popularity of the cinnamon roll the decision was taken to combine the best of both worlds resulting in the Honey Bun Coconut Roll which has scored the thumbs up from purchasers. “We’ve been getting excellent feedback,” she beamed, revealing that the roll is made with real Jamaican coconut flakes. “It’s perfectly moist,” she said of the roll, “and tastes even better after 20 seconds in the microwave.”
Talk shifted briefly to Honey Bun’s initial public offer (IPO) on the Junior Stock Exchange, and Chong expressed optimism for financial prospects. The company has already spent over $45 million to increase its operational capacity. But back to the company’s coconut roll. “Coconut is one of my favourite flavours, and I’m honestly in love with the roll,” the young marketing director added, offering us the suggestion that it makes a “delightful breakfast or lunchtime snack”.
