The Trod continues
ENERGETIC, thrilling, riveting, unconventional and eccentric, are a few words one would use to describe the performance of the group No-Maddz last Sunday as they held a charity and anniversary concert of their live recorded album.
The event, which was held at the Courtleigh Auditorium, saw a lively crowd coming to support the group that was nominated for best group in the recent EME Awards.
The red carpet affair began with a cocktail hour in which sponsors, supporters, family, and friends mingled before making their way to the foyer of the auditorium for the first segment of the programme. Grizzly’s Entertainment, Supreme Ventures, Courts, Mel Cooke, and Puma received tokens of appreciation for the tremendous support they have given the group on their trod to success. The No-Maddz also made their presentations to representatives from EVE for Life and the Edna Manley College of the Visual & Performing Arts.
A combination of old favourites and new material were featured in the set. The sounds spanned genres ranging from Reggae to R&B and Alternative Rock. The themes explored were both topical and humorous, which is characteristic of the ingenious balance between thought-provoking social commentary and comedy which has become No-Maddz signature style. Tracks like Rise Above Profanity, Take You To A Place, Justified and Babylon Paper were greeted with overwhelming applause — the end of each leaving the crowd fulfilled.
The album, The Trod, which was released last year locally will be released internationally this year and this show, which was also being recorded for DVD purposes, will have its proceeds go to the Edna Manley School of the Visual and Performing Arts.
