Strawberry-Infused Delight
We’re quenching your thirst this week with two new beverages for the young (and young at heart) currently available on a supermarket shelf near you.
Are you in the mood for a glass of wine after dinner? Give Fresita — Sparkling Rose a try. A more visible sight of late on supermarket shelves, Fresita — which is distributed by Caribbean Producers of Jamaica (CPJ) — can be enjoyed as an aperitif or with desert. Made in Chile, Fresita features premium Sauvignon grapes and strawberries hand-picked from the Chilean Patagonia, a pristine and natural region where the last of the continental ice fields are found. Brand Manager at CPJ Tamika West shared that the wine is “young and vibrant” and intended “for a youthful demographic, particularly females”. The wine is available in 200ml and 750ml bottles and retails for $285 and $895, respectively.
Rock-ing Refreshment
Energy drinks are all the rave among younger folk, so it’s little surprise a relatively new one has hit the market. The Las Vegas-produced Rockstar Energy brand debuted in Jamaica November of last year, and its local distributor Ramson’s currently stocks seven flavours — Original, Cola, Zero Carb, Recovery, Punched, Citrus and Tropical Punched. According to Phillip Ramson, sales manager at Ramson’s, Rockstar is the ideal refreshment for persons who lead active and exhausting lifestyles. “This is typically (Jamaican) young adults aged between 18 and 45, who are active on the social scene, or persons who enjoy outdoor adventure activities such as rally, motor cross, drag racing.” Rockstar, Ramson added, can also be used as an enhancer to a drinker’s favourite liquor.
